Julie Henry
Someone’s in the kitchen with Julie Henry. When the WVIZ/PBS Cooks! series first launched, it was Susie Heller in the Cooks! kitchen, chatting with our region’s finest chefs and cooks as they prepared their dishes, while Julie and Kent got the tough job of sampling all that delicious food. But in the early 90’s, Julie moved to the kitchen and Peg Neeson joined Kent at the table to nosh.

Today, you’ll continue to find Julie in the kitchen chatting away with the shows’ guest chefs as they share the secrets of their culinary creations.

Away from the WVIZ/PBS Cooks! set, Julie is a four-time Emmy Award-winning project manager, producer, host, writer and reporter with nearly two decades of television experience.

Julie’s led diverse teams on projects ranging from ideastream’s Making Change, a multimedia economic development series; to popular WVIZ/PBS history documentaries like Cleveland Memories; to a long stint as the Producer/Host of Applause, the WVIZ/PBS weekly local arts series.

In addition, Julie has worked on video projects for the Cleveland Clinic, the United Way, and MacNeil/Lehrer Productions.

After producing educational television programs for many years, Julie decided she would like to work directly with children and become a teacher. So she left her full-time position at ideastream to pursue her continuing education. She was recently licensed as an Intervention Specialist and is teaching middle school students in an inner ring suburb. But you can’t talk the girl out of the kitchen, so she happy reunites with her friends and former colleagues for each WVIZ/PBS Cooks! program.

Julie enjoys exploring Northeast Ohio’s wealth of fabulous restaurants with her husband and two teenage children.
