Q&A

What’s wrong with food today in the US? People are too removed from the agricultural process. They should understand how their food is grown. That way they can know best how to improve the soil efficiently and not waste resources applying too much fertilizer to the land. What is the solution? Precision agricultural tools and soil sampling will help people to conserve resources and save money. Carbon credits can reward farmers for using biochar that sequesters carbon and helps to fight global warming. What is your favorite food memory? My earliest and fondest food memory is when the guys would work on the farm, and they would all come in, and every day was like a Christmas dinner, or a Thanksgiving dinner. Every day, when they were cutting the silage, or making hay, the ladies would cook for all the farm help, because you had people working, not machines. We had turkey, we had ham, we had venison. We had roast beef. Mashed potatoes, gravy. Lima beans, carrots, corn, you name it, it was there. It was like a smorgasbord. And everybody just laughed–communicated, got along, it was just a great time, you know? It was just awesome.
