Onigiri Rice Balls from Japan

    Ingredients

  • 4 cups cooked rice
  • Salt
  • 2 sheets nori seaweed (Look for this ingredient in an international or Asian grocery store)
  • Sesame seeds
  • Cooked salmon (optional)

    Directions

  1. Divide the rice into 4 parts and using your hands form each part into a ball or triangular-ball shape.
  2. If you decide to fill with fish: use your thumb create an indent at the top of the ball. Fill the indent with cooked salmon and then use your fingers to press closed the hole.
  3. Wrap each ball of rice with a strip of nori and then sprinkle with sesame seeds! Serve and enjoy!

Tips/Techniques

In the video we did not fill the Onigiri with fish.
