Lidia travels to Washington, D.C., a destination for many of America’s new arrivals. She celebrates the patchwork of immigrant cuisine with a potluck dinner held at Immigrant Food in downtown D.C. Head chef Mile Montezuma and Lidia make Mile’s contribution to the meal–Venezuelan ceviche. Other guests bring dishes chosen to share their heritage with Lidia.

The dishes on the table are from Africa, the Middle East, South America, Asia and the Caribbean, as well as Lidia’s Italian Bean Soup. Lidia calls it, ‘a table of the world’, and it’s a true representation of some of the cuisines and culture that make up the American melting pot.
