Whether you're a loyal Carolina Panthers fan, or a die-hard Denver Broncos fan, this Sunday one of you will have your heart deeply broken while the other one will experience a jubilant high for months on end. I should know; I've experienced both over the last two years being a 12th Man Seattle Seahawks fan. Just thinking about the last minute of last year's Super Bowl game still hurts inside.
For all of us with no skin in the game, we will share at least one thing with those who do: the event will be shrouded in food. For most fans, this Sunday is all about the food, commercials, and more glorious food. It's one of the few times of the year where it is permissible to have "anything goes" type of food, and as much of it as you want. The more slathered in sauce or deep-fried, the better it is. If I had to pick one type of food that is notoriously known for a place at the Super Bowl table it would have to be hot and spicy Buffalo wings.
This year I have a fun twist on this popular appetizer Spicy Buffalo Chicken Blue Cheese Dip. They have all the familiar qualities and flavor profiles of the beloved classic except in a dip form with a hint of blue cheese. Served with celery sticks, this dish will be a hit at your Super Bowl party regardless of who wins.
*This recipe can be made gluten-free by making sure the cheese is not purchased pre-shredded with caking agents.
