Monday Just Got Real on PBS — Set Your DVR or Alarm Clock!

October 12, 2012 by 826chi in

At long last, the 11th season of Independent Lens is here! With it comes our new timeslot, Mondays at 10 PM on PBS. For most of you, that means we follow Antiques Roadshow at 8 PM, and the new series Market Warriors at 9 PM. Your mission, should you choose to accept it (and you should), is to tune in Mondays for your weekly PBS fix!

This season is chock full of powerful films by some of the most celebrated documentarians in the business. Macky Alston (Hard Road Home) brings us Love Free or Die, about Gene Robinson, the first openly gay bishop ion Christendom on October 29. Academy Award-winner Alex Gibney (Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room) returns with Park Avenue: Wealth, Power & the American Dream on November 12.

Later in the season highlights include The Invisible War by Kirby Dick (This Film is Not Yet Rated), detailing the epidemic of sexual assault with impunity in the United States military; Detropia by the Academy Award-nominated Rachel Grady and Heidi Ewing (Jesus Camp, The Boys of Baraka); Ai Weiwei: Never Sorry by Alison Klayman; SXSW favorite Beauty Is Embarrassing by Neil Berkeley about irreverent artist and Pee Wee’s Playhouse set designer Wayne White; and an examination of the failed war on drugs called The House I Live In, by Eugene Jarecki (Why We Fight).

There is so much more that we couldn’t possibly list it all here. Just keep an eye on the schedule, and we’ll see you on Monday nights!
