Following the completion of this film, the military and police ousted Mohamed Nasheed in early 2012 as leader of the Maldives. He continued to lead protests and started campaigning for an upcoming election, but in March of 2013, a court in the Maldives banned Nasheed from traveling abroad and he was subsequently arrested and imprisoned.
