We were pleased to learn that The Homestretch took home a News and Documentary Emmy® Award for Outstanding Business and Economic Reporting, in the News & Doc Emmy Awards ceremony held at New York City’s Lincoln Center presented by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) on September 21.
In addition, filmmaker Stanley Nelson, who directed the award-winning, social media-trending Black Panthers: Vanguard of a Revolution, received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the News & Doc Emmy ceremony.
Indie Lens received eight nominations all told: The Kill Team for Outstanding Investigative Reporting; Born to Fly: Elizabeth Streb vs. Gravity for Outstanding Arts and Culture Programming; 1971 for Outstanding Historical Reporting; After the Storm for New Approach: Documentary; American Denial for Outstanding Science and Technology Programming; Through a Lens Darkly for Outstanding Arts and Culture Programming; and Rich Hill, like The Homestretch, nominated for Outstanding Business and Economic Reporting.

Directed by Anne de Mare and Kirsten Kelly, The Homestretch follows three smart and ambitious Chicago teens who brave frigid winters, high school pressures, and homelessness as they fight to stay in school, graduate, and build a future.
