It’s Been a Great Week for Independent Lens!

What a week for Independent Lens! First the Sundance Film Festival announced the lineup for 2013. Then Time magazine showed The Invisible War some major love in its “Top Movies of 2012.” It’s the only documentary on the list!

And now the Academy Awards shortlist is out with some films that are very near and dear to our hearts.

The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences Documentaries Screening Committee has selected a shortlist of 15 films that are contenders for the Oscar for Best Documentary Feature. With more than 126 films in contention for the Oscar, we are over the moon that several of the 15 are Independent Lens films. We’re so proud of our filmmakers!

It’s a list of super strong films. Which five films do you think (or hope) will be nominated on January 10th for the 85th Academy Awards? How many Independent Lens films will make it to the red carpet and beyond on February 24? Will we hear the name of one of our beloved films called out that night? Stay tuned! You know we will!

Meanwhile, here’s the shortlist:

If you could vote for just one of these, which would it be?
