The Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences today announced its annual “shortlist” of contenders in the category of Best Documentary Feature today, and two upcoming Independent Lens films are on it! They are Hell and Back Again by Danfung Dennis, and We Were Here: Stories from the AIDS Years in San Francisco by David Weissman and Bill Weber. This takes both films one step closer to a nomination for the big night. Everybody at Independent Lens wants to extend our heartfelt congratulations to the remarkable filmmakers whose tireless work is being recognized, and say: well deserved!
