It’s official! Our 11th season will be hosted by the acclaimed actor and filmmaker Stanley Tucci! From The Hunger Games to Independent Lens … a logical progression, wouldn’t you say? (We can’t help it, some of us around the office have started referring to him as “The Tooch.”)
Tucci has appeared in more than 50 films, countless television shows, and a dozen plays. He can next be seen in Bryan Singer’s Jack the Giant Killer, a modern day fairy tale (March 2013), and Percy Jackson & the Olympians: Sea of Monsters. Most recently, he was seen as Caesar Flickerman in the blockbuster The Hunger Games, and is set to begin filming Catching Fire, the second in The Hunger Games trilogy. Other acclaimed films include The Devil Wears Prada, Captain America, Easy A, Margin Call, The Terminal, Road To Perdition, and Julie & Julia, among many others. His performance in The Lovely Bones earned an Academy Award nomination along with Golden Globe, BAFTA, SAG, and Broadcast Film Critics nominations.

Tucci made his Broadway directorial debut with a revival of Lend Me a Tenor starring Tony Shalhoub, which received a Tony Award nomination for Best Revival of a Play. He was also nominated for an Emmy Award for his work on ER, and his appearance on Monk received an Emmy for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series. An accomplished writer, director, and producer, his independent films include Blind Date, Joe Gould’s Secret, The Imposters, and Big Night, which earned the Waldo Salt Screenwriting Award at the Sundance Film Festival, recognition by the National Board of Review, an Independent Spirit Award, the Critics Prize at Deauville Film Festival, and honors from the New York Film Critics and the Boston Society of Film Critics.

Tucci won a Golden Globe Award for the television film Conspiracy, and received a Golden Globe and an Emmy for Winchell. On television he also starred in Murder One, for which he earned an Emmy nomination. Tucci has appeared in more than a dozen plays on Broadway, off-Broadway, and at Yale Repertory Theater.
