Award-winning actor Sigourney Weaver has created a host of memorable characters, both dramatic and comic, on stage and in film. Her work in over fifty films includes the Alien movies, Ghostbusters, Gorillas in the Mist, Working Girl, The Ice Storm (BAFTA), Galaxy Quest, Prayers for Bobby, WALL-E, Finding Dory, Avatar, and many others. She is currently shooting Avatar 2 and Avatar 3 with James Cameron, to be released in December 2020 and December 2021. On stage, Weaver played Masha in Christopher Durang’s Tony Award-winning play Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike alongside David Hyde Pierce and Kristine Nielsen. Television work includes “The Defenders,” “Political Animals,” “Years of Living Dangerously,” and “Planet Earth.” Ms. Weaver is a graduate of Stanford University and holds an MFA from the Yale School of Drama.

Ms. Weaver was very proud to receive the GLAAD Media Award for her work in Prayers for Bobby as well as the Trevor Life Award in 2011. Weaver has been the Honorary Chair for the Dian Fossey Gorilla Fund for the last 30 years. She served on the Board of Human Rights First for 25 years, and she is currently a board member of the New York Botanical Garden. Weaver was proud to receive the National Audubon Society’s Rachel Carson Award in 2009 for her environmental work. She is also a co-founder of The Flea Theater in Lower Manhattan, which champions young artists and new work.
