Scene Breakdown: The Socket

What is it like to film inside the last remaining Titan II missile silo in the United States?

Filmmaker Robert Kenner takes us behind the scenes and tells us how he was able to depict a deadly accident that took place in a missile silo in Damascus, Arkansas in 1980. From costuming to actors to props, Kenner painstakingly recreated the accident — when a dropped socket put the Air Force on high alert over fears that a 9-megaton nuclear warhead might detonate.

Filmed at the Titan Missile Museum outside of Tucson, Arizona, this scene from Command and Control takes viewers minute-by-minutes through the harrowing incident.
