NOVA Presents Comic Science

First… the science. (This will only take a second.)

The hippocampus is a small part of the brain located in the temporal lobe.

It is responsible for the creation of long-term memories, and also helps us navigate.

Why is it called the hippocampus?

Because it's shaped like a seahorse (Genus: Hippocampus)

And now… the joke!

What did Professor Hippocampus say at his retirement party?

Professor Hippocampus: "Thanks for the memories…"
