From mid-February until late May 2003, a NOVA crew filmed the day-to-day operations of two U.S. Army Combat Support Hospital (CSH) units for "Life and Death in the War Zone." The crew initially chronicled the 10th CSH at its home base in Colorado and later in Kuwait. Then it joined the 21st CSH when it was deployed to two locations in Iraq: Balad, a town about 50 miles north of Baghdad, and Mosul in the north of Iraq. While filming in each of these places, directors Dimitri Doganis and Callum Macrae documented their experience with still photographs. To launch the slide show, click on the image at left.
