Some of the world's most spectacular but least-known volcanoes lie along a 1,200 mile long crack in the Earth's crust called the East African Rift. Among the most active and deadly of these volcanoes is Nyiragongo, located near the city of Goma in the Democratic Republic of Congo. In this interactive, explore the volcano and learn what risks it poses to the 500,000 people who live in its shadow.
