GUEST: My great-great-grandfather owned a dry goods store, and he used to have furniture stored in the basement of this store. When people went off to the West to venture off, he would store their furniture. And when they never came back, they would have auctions for the furniture, and this document was found in one of the pieces of furniture by my father when he was a child.
APPRAISER: Well, it's pretty clear to see that you've brought in a document on vellum, on parchment, with a bold, clear Benjamin Franklin signature. This is a land deed. Here we have in 1787, the 11th year of the Commonwealth, we have him signing a land grant. He must have signed many, many of them. And I think for an auction estimate, this is probably a $5,000 to $10,000 document.
GUEST: Oh, my goodness. That's wonderful.
