GUEST: This is an item that my husband and I found in an antique shop in Oxford, Ohio. My husband is a very avid sports collector, especially football memorabilia, so he liked it immediately. Both of us did.
APPRAISER: Very nice.
GUEST: We were later able to find out that it was Ohio State, 1910, so that was very interesting to us.
APPRAISER: Well, that's correct. This is actually a bandana that was printed on cotton, 1910. It was a year that Ohio State football went 6-1-3. So they had a fairly good year that year. One of the things that also is interesting about this piece is if you look at the football, this is one of the first years that they used this style football, which led to the advent of the forward pass. It actually is a great bandana because if you look at it, one: condition is superb. Two: it almost looks like it's coming right out at you. He's got the football. It's Ohio State. It's just an absolutely wonderful item. What did you pay for it?
GUEST: Probably in the neighborhood of $30, $40.
APPRAISER: Okay. One in this kind of shape, with this kind of history, probably would sell in today's market somewhere between $1,000 and $1,500.
GUEST: Thank you very much.
APPRAISER: Thank you.
