GUEST: This is a painting from my great-grandfather. I Just know it was painted in 1912 by Antonio Jacobsen.
APPRAISER: He's probably one of the most recognizable marine artists that we have in the United States. And as you say, it's signed down here, Antonio Jacobsen, and dated 1912. And then it gives his address, 31 Palisade, and it's West Hoboken, which is where he worked.
GUEST: Mm-hmm.
APPRAISER: And he had a large house there, and he overlooked the Hudson.
GUEST: Okay.
APPRAISER: So he would do all these paintings of ships. And he was an incredibly popular artist. The name of the ship is the...
GUEST: Tartar.
APPRAISER: Tartar. It's a schooner, but it was probably affiliated to the Navy. It's probably a military ship of some sort. At auction, I would expect a painting like this probably to fetch somewhere between $6,000 and $10,000.
GUEST: Okay, wow. That's good.
