GUEST: My great-uncle Hugh came from Seattle in the summer to visit, brought his guitar, we'd sit on the porch and sing. And we just formed a real special bond, and then he sent me this guitar when I was in college. These are his initials. He played on KJR in Seattle.
APPRAISER: And when was that?
GUEST: I'd say in the early '30s.
APPRAISER: It's the Gibson Nick Lucas Special. Nick Lucas was a popular singer, guitarist back in the '30s, and Gibson got his endorsement. This guitar was made in 1938. The body style of this guitar is a little bit different. It has this rounded bottom of it, and then extra deep sides. It gave it a bigger sound. Unfortunately, the neck has been broken and repaired. Like this today, we would put a retail value of around $5,000 to $6,000.
GUEST: Oh, that's great.
