GUEST: I don't know a lot about it. It was my great-aunt's, and it was a gift from her, and she passed away so I really don't know anything about this painting at all.
APPRAISER: Well, it's a well-known French modern artist named Andrè Dunoyer de Segonzac. And you can see his signature right here: "Dunoyer de Segonzac." This is a classic image. He did rivers in Normandy, river landscapes, other kinds of landscapes, almost all Normandy or the north of France. He worked in the early 20th century, but he showed at the Armory show in New York in 1913, so Americans became very interested in his work. I think it is an exceptionally nice one. I'd expect at auction it would sell for about $4,000.
GUEST: Oh, wow.
APPRAISER: A dealer, however, would offer it for much more, $8,500 maybe, $9,000, something like that. It's beautiful shape, lovely size, you know, nice expansive-looking landscape and an absolute classic statement by this artist.
GUEST: That's fantastic.
