GUEST: Well, the shoe is my grandmother's and when she was four, she was at an Albany and New York Yankees game. And she took off her shoes because her feet were hot. And her dad took one of them and brought it up and Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig signed it. And both of them said, "I've signed both baseballs and bats, but I've never had anything like this before." And this is my grandmother right here when she was four.
APPRAISER: Uh-huh. Right here.
GUEST: And here's the article about it. And they signed on the inner step. And... but you can't really see it anymore. She wore the shoes a lot.
APPRAISER: Let's take a look. Yeah, unfortunately, the signatures have rubbed off because she did wear the shoes. But boy, I'm in agreement with Babe and Lou. I'd never seen a signed shoe like this before. This is a really neat piece.
GUEST: Thanks.
APPRAISER: Without all this documentation, it's just your grandma's shoe. But because we have this amazing photograph from a newspaper, and we have this incredible article here that actually says that, that makes the whole thing. Now, I got to tell you. With pieces like this, it's hard to really value them. Now, we know what a Babe Ruth autograph is worth. We know what a Lou Gehrig autograph is worth. But certainly not a Babe Ruth and Lou autographed shoe.
GUEST: Right.
APPRAISER: But the fact that we have the documentation, we have the wonderful photograph, and you know the whole story, which is the coolest part about it. Well, I would estimate it between $500 and $700.
GUEST: Wow!
APPRAISER: That's not bad, right?
GUEST: Right.
APPRAISER: But boy, its sentimental value is priceless. To have something like this in your family to enjoy. Now, I know we have a picture here, correct?
GUEST: Correct.
APPRAISER: Let's see. This is me with my grandmother. That's your grandma with the shoe, and there you are.
GUEST: Yep.
APPRAISER: That's very, very cool. Well, thank you so much for coming in, Mary.
GUEST: You're welcome. It's been a pleasure.
APPRAISER: Thank you for telling me about the shoe.
