APPRAISER: Well, you brought in a box full of stuff.
GUEST: The box was sitting on the shelf at a thrift store here in Madison. It wasn't even open; I just opened the box and there it was.
APPRAISER: What did you pay for all that Beatles' stuff?
GUEST: $20. These all relate to a Beatles concert.
APPRAISER: Now, you didn't get to go see the Beatles in person, did you?
GUEST: No, never.
APPRAISER: This is the kind of stuff that they sold as souvenirs at the Beatles' concerts. This is a Beatles pennant-- sold for about $5. Today, you might be surprised-- that's a hundred dollars.
GUEST: Wow.
APPRAISER: These are the Beatles programs. This is 1964. This is from 1965. And this is 1966. And they sold those at every stop on the tour. And these programs sold for about $4 at the concerts. Now, the '64 one was found in mass quantities. These sell for about $50 to $100 each. 1965 sells for about $100. And 1966 can sell for as much as $200. Now, this is retail, this is the prices that if you were to sell them at a Beatles collectors show. What I thought was really fun was the Beatle bugle. If it wasn't loud enough at a Beatles concert with everybody screaming, they figured they'd add a little bit to it. What I thought was wicked cool was that, inside, the girl had written her name and the concert date that she got it. And this one was from 1966. This piece right here will sell somewhere between $500 and $600.
GUEST: Wow.
APPRAISER: The one I thought was really interesting was this guitar. This is a Beatle Four Pop guitar. It's made by Mastro-- M-A-S-T-R-O-- Industries, which was a company that produced toy guitars. And they luckily got the Beatles license and had created three or four different Beatles guitars during the time period. This Four Pop, if it wasn't in the original card, would sell for $500 to $600-- just the guitar. But this little piece of cardboard here doubles the value, and this Beatles guitar will sell somewhere between $1,000 and $1,200.
GUEST: Wow, I never thought that... Never even... wouldn't have... I would never have thought that. No way.
APPRAISER: Really?
GUEST: No way. Wow. Unbelievable.
