GUEST: I have had it since 1981, and I found it in the closet of my father after he died.
APPRAISER: It came from an area in, sort of, Germany and Switzerland called the Black Forest area. And that area was known for very whimsical carving. Most of the time, when people hear of Black Forest carving, they think of bears climbing on trees that have been turned into coat stands. And they were very popular in the 19th century into the beginning of this century. The other interesting thing about this is the horns. You would also see the horns on items from this area with hunting trophies. It's not just a bunny, but it's also a music box. A lot of music boxes also came out of this area, but usually they're just in very plain, rectangular cases. Something like this, if you were to sell it, would probably fetch between $800 and $1,200 at auction.
GUEST: Okay.
APPRAISER: And I'm so glad you could bring it in today.
GUEST: Well, thank you, I'm so glad.
APPRAISER: Because it's a rare example.
GUEST: Oh, thank you.
