GUEST: I started out collecting the early editions of Monopoly games, and through my travels, I discovered these at antique shows and fell in love with them.
APPRAISER: And the graphics are just so sophisticated, it's just wonderful. And the publishers of these games targeted the parents of the children who would ultimately play with these games, and that's why they're so intricate and so colorful. So they really would put the punch on the cover to draw in the adult buyer.
GUEST: Exactly.
APPRAISER: When you started out 20 years ago, what would you pay, typically, for one of these game boards?
GUEST: Uh, a large McLoughlin would usually go for, say, between $35 and $50.
APPRAISER: And what about today?
GUEST: Considerably more. For example, that Man in the Moon up there auctioned off nine years ago for $5,000.
APPRAISER: Thanks, Bill. It was a real treat to see all this.
GUEST: Thank you, Noel.
