APPRAISER: The last time we had this image, we marketed it as the greatest western image ever conceived. And I think that that is...personifies this image. It doesn't get any better. You have a semi-clad Native American Indian riding bareback on a buffalo through a horseshoe in the sky. It sort of epitomizes everything. It was the Buffalo Brewing Company that distributed this calendar. It was manufactured in 1901 by Stecher Lithography Company in Rochester, New York. Buffalo Brewing was in my hometown of Sacramento, California, and they produced beer. Most of their advertisements ran the period of 1900 to roughly 1918. Their advertising is generally of the highest quality. They paid premiums for it. It's sometimes been compared to that of Coca-Cola in their advertising campaign. You collect this kind of material. I'm interested what prompted you to purchase this.
GUEST: Well, a friend of mine recommended that I purchase this piece. I saw it, I really enjoyed it. It was a lot of money to me at the time that I purchased it about 20 years ago. But he suggested to me that if I bought a quality piece, it would probably hold its value and maybe appreciate. But I really bought it because I really enjoyed it.
APPRAISER: Do you mind if I ask what you paid for it 20 years ago?
GUEST: Yes, I paid $1,500 for it.
APPRAISER: $1,500. Well, the last one that we sold realized $20,000, which was three years ago.
GUEST: Whoa.
APPRAISER: And I believe that this one would realize the same amount today. There's only about 11 of them known.
GUEST: That's a lot of money.
APPRAISER: It's a great image.
GUEST: I really enjoy it, so I'll probably keep it anyway.
