GUEST: Well, a few months ago, I went to a thrift store near my house to try to find something for my bar, 'cause I wanted something that was pretty that I could see from my living room.
APPRAISER: And you paid?
GUEST: $1.99.
APPRAISER: (exhales) That's good-- you've got some pretty groovy walls there.
GUEST: (chuckles)
APPRAISER: This was made in Germany by the firm of Johann von Schwarz just around 1900.
GUEST: Wow.
APPRAISER: They're made in cuenca, so these, these little raised walls keep the glaze colors apart. When there's a hand shown, or a face, those parts are hand-painted.
GUEST: Oh.
APPRAISER: It has a nice, big size. It does have the tray mount. It's in beautiful condition. So somebody who had it for their bar...
GUEST: (laughs)
APPRAISER: ...didn't use it, thankfully, because it could have been very worn. Sometimes you see them and they have so many scratches on them, and that really affects the value. At auction, this would probably be somewhere between $2,000 and $2,500.
GUEST: Wow! (laughs) Oh, gosh, that's great. I can't believe it.
