GUEST: My great-grandfather owned a tavern. This sat on the back of his bar and this is one of the many bottles that he had on the back of the bar also. If you would tip it back, it's hollowed out and he would keep his pistol under there for safekeeping.
APPRAISER: It's a perfect example of great bar advertising. Which one do you think is the rarer piece?
GUEST: I would say the statue.
APPRAISER: Wrong, the bottle is the rarer piece. Traditionally in the advertising world of the liquor collectibles, whiskey has not been as popular as beer. But with the resurgence of interest in craft and high-grade whiskey, people are drinking more and more whiskey now. In an auction, the pair might bring somewhere between $1,000 and $1,500.
GUEST: Okay.
APPRAISER: The bottle is worth about $600 to $800.
GUEST: Okay.
APPRAISER: And the statue somewhat less.
GUEST: Okay.
APPRAISER: Particularly since it's damaged.
GUEST: Okay, thank you. That is a surprise.
