GUEST: We all believe that my great-grandfather made this. My grandmother hated it, and she just said, "You can hang it in the basement."
APPRAISER: We call these dioramas. Some of it is made out of heavy paper, but the sails, for example, are carved wood. Everything's out of proportion. It's too big, it's too small, which is part of its charm. At auction, I would estimate this in the $2,500 range, $3,000.
