GUEST: Friend of mine offered it to me, and I paid $350. I did some research after purchasing the table. This emblem here was the Automobile Club de France de l'Ouest. That club was pretty famous. It started the Le Mans race. The club itself was a marketing arm to promote what was at that time a luxury item, the automobile.
APPRAISER: If we look at the table overall, it's supported on a late Victorian-style base. This is cast iron. And here is this mark, "Generale Toulouse," the foundry. I mean, the real art of the piece, of course, is this intaglio pietra dura inlaid marble top. And we're talking about this table being made about 1906. The market right now for automobilia is very hot, as is the car market, but I would put an auction estimate on this, easily, of $6,000 to $12,000. Wow.
GUEST: Oh, that's a very surprising number.
