GUEST: I brought in this dress. It's Geoffrey Beene. And I actually found this dress at Goodwill for five dollars.
APPRAISER: It is a Geoffrey Beene. He started his company in 1963. It's dateable to the early 1970s. It's got these nice wide cuffs and wonderful soft, wide collar. The front zip. When you think of the early '70s, you normally don't think of this shape. You think of a more Bohemian look. But this is a classic, elegant day dress in silk. It does have condition issues. Some little pulls to the silk. There's a button missing, and it should have a nice wide belt. There are some belt hoops that we see that are vacant. But it's a beautiful silhouette, it's a beautiful color. And in its current condition, it's certainly worth more than five dollars, so you did very well. You have a good eye. For retail, it would be about $350.
GUEST: Oh, wow.
APPRAISER: If it didn't have all these little missing bits and pulls, more like $525, $550.
