GUEST: I got this when I was between ten and 12. My uncle and his wife were stationed in Seoul. He was a career Army officer.
APPRAISER: Okay.
GUEST: And he was evacuated because they were having to get out of Seoul because of the war, the Korean War. And they came back to the United States, and they came and gave this to me.
APPRAISER: Okay, can you tell me what year that was?
GUEST: It was... I'll be telling you my age.
APPRAISER: Okay, don't tell then.
GUEST: (chuckles) It was probably about 1952.
APPRAISER: Okay. The China set is actually older than 1952. The amazing thing about it is the quality, and it's a miniature set. It's Japanese, and it's a place setting for 12. It's amazing in terms of its bone china. Also it's very translucent. They probably painted some of the floral design with one-hair brushes.
GUEST: Oh my.
APPRAISER: But have you ever had anyone take a look at it?
GUEST: I took it to a miniature shop in Minneapolis one time just out of curiosity. And they looked at it and said it was too big to be dollhouse. They could maybe give me $75 for it.
APPRAISER: A doll collector would absolutely go crazy over something like this, especially because it's the finest quality and the presentation is very good. If this was in a doll auction, I wouldn't be surprised if it went between $1,250 and $1,500.
GUEST: Oh, my goodness. (chuckling): Oh, that's very good.
APPRAISER: It's absolutely superb, yeah.
GUEST: Well, thank you.
