GUEST: It's a piece that I bought at a garage sale, probably late '70s, early '80s. Paid 25 cents. I knew nothing about it, I just liked the style of the piece. So it sat in my home unframed in a folder till about '87, when I could afford to have it framed.
APPRAISER: Well, it's a wonderful example of an early lithograph by Joe Jones.
GUEST: Okay.
APPRAISER: And he's a St. Louis artist, and it's such an early work because it's signed "Joseph Jones" and we rarely see his works from the 1930s. Usually his prints date from the 1940s. It shows his early interest in Modernism, there's an abstract quality. I only found one other impression of this, which is in a museum. And at auction today, it could sell for $1,500 to $2,500.
GUEST: Oh, wow! Wow, well that's... I'm very impressed, that's a great investment for 25 cents and another $300 to have it framed.
