GUEST: All I know is what my mother told me when she gave it to me for my birthday between 20 and 30 years ago? Okay. Um, she said that my great-grandparents brought it from Russia when they came in the 1890s.
APPRAISER: This piece in fact did not come from Russia, but is of American make. So it's a piece that is by Krementz...
GUEST: Oh!
APPRAISER: ...which, Krementz and Co. is one of America's celebrated jewelers. Originally, it was intended to be a watch pendant brooch. It could be worn as just a brooch, and then also as a pendant, which is where this little pendant hoop could be put on a chain. This is all beautifully enameled. Many of these pieces don't have the added seed pearls, so that makes your piece slightly higher in value. We would put an auction estimate of $800 to $1,200, $1,200, on it.
GUEST: I'm gonna have to wear it-- it's beautiful.
APPRAISER: I think you should.
