GUEST: My husband thinks it's fabulous. It's his pride and joy.
APPRAISER: So is it your pride and joy?
GUEST: No, I get to dust it. (laughing)
APPRAISER: First of all, it's not a mystery who made it because it says right there on the bottom, Lanier Meaders. He was the king of the face jug makers, according to a lot of people that collect this sort of thing.
GUEST: Oh, okay.
APPRAISER: Some people call them grotesque jugs.
GUEST: Oh, okay. I can't imagine why. (laughing)
APPRAISER: What did you pay for it when you bought it?
GUEST: I think it was $125.
APPRAISER: Well, that was in the '80s, that would have been a fair price in the '80s. In today's market, the value at auction would be $1,200. So it's only gone up ten times.
GUEST: Okay, okay. (laughing) All right.
APPRAISER: There's so many people out there that love them that the value of them in the last four or five years has gone up some.
GUEST: Okay!
