GUEST: My sons and I would buy, refurbish old houses and this was in a wall of one of the old houses that we had bought. It was rolled up and it had a covering over it, so we tore it off, and this is what we had.
APPRAISER: It's advertising biscuits. It's a French poster, an image that was originally done in 1897, but it was such a famous image that they reprinted it for many, many, many years. And this image is probably from around the 1920s, 1930s. They considered themselves a very prestigious company. So what they've depicted here is a French schoolboy and he's wearing a medal for scholarship. So they're trying to say the kids who eat these biscuits are classy and smart kids. I mean, it's smart advertising, and it's still considered one of the signature images of this company, which still exists today. How much did you pay for the house?
GUEST: Around $100,000.
APPRAISER: It's not worth that much.
GUEST: Okay.
APPRAISER: At auction, this poster regularly sells for between $1,000 and $1,500.
GUEST: Wow. That's a good down payment, anyway
