GUEST: The violin I purchased in the early 2000s. Uh, my daughter was taking lessons, and her violin instructor had a friend who was selling it. I think it was about $3,000. I bought the bow with a violin at an antique store in, like, 1998. It was about $75 for the bow with a violin.
APPRAISER: We have a French violin made in Mirecourt, France, in 1900, 1910. Good, typical French commercial violin of the period. And the bow, made in about 1925, is actually a Paris maker, Victor Fétique Workshops. Got a Victor Fétique brand there, which, that's typical of the French bows. Fétique was a very famous Paris maker. The bow's had a lot of player wear, but it's still a Victor Fétique bow. Great maker. This violin probably worth about $3,000, $3,500. I think the bow is worth about, as it sits, $5,000.
GUEST: Mm-hmm.
APPRAISER: In really great shape, a bow like this should be $15,000.
