GUEST: I inherited it from my mom and dad.
APPRAISER: You remember it as a kid growing up?
GUEST: I noticed it about... when I got about 12 years old, I noticed it.
APPRAISER: And you don't know what it is?
GUEST: A lamp?
APPRAISER: Well, it is a lamp. It didn't start out life as a lamp. It's really a vase. It's called the American Beauty vase. And it was made by the Roycroft Group. And this is one of their really best works.
GUEST: Great.
APPRAISER: The thing about yours is it has its condition issue, starting off with being turned into a lamp. So somewhere along the way, they drilled through it.
GUEST: Right.
APPRAISER: And also at some point, somebody put water in it, so you have corrosion. Very much like on the Statue of Liberty in New York Harbor.
GUEST: Right.
APPRAISER: That's made out of copper, and over the years, it's weathered into that wonderful green. Well, you have that wonderful green here, but that's the last thing you want on a piece of copper. In this condition, as it is, at auction it's probably worth around $1,000.
GUEST: Appreciate it very much.
