GUEST: I don't know much about it. I bought it at an auction for a dollar. I like the style. I think it's Art Deco maybe or 1930s.
APPRAISER: A dollar's a good deal.
GUEST: Yeah, I thought so.
APPRAISER: Well, you probably notice the mark on the bottom here.
GUEST: Yes, I didn't know what it meant.
APPRAISER: It's Roycroft. So it is Arts and Crafts movement, made in New York state, probably about 1910. It's hand-hammered copper. And the decoration is almost like a tree bark.
GUEST: Yeah, I like that.
APPRAISER: And these little squares up here, probably like silver-colored in the beginning. Any sense of what value is?
GUEST: 25 bucks, something like that? $25? Yeah, I have no clue.
APPRAISER: (laughing) More, more. This form sells at auction, a number have come up, and they vary in price a little bit. It depends on the market. But they have come up anywhere between $2,500 and about $6,000.
GUEST: (laughing) Oh, no.
APPRAISER: So you definitely got a great deal. Good eye for a dollar.
GUEST: Oh, my God.
