GUEST: My dad got this in 1963 from an elderly friend and it came from Europe. That's about all he knew. And then he contacted a couple of museums in Sweden, because he thought it was Swedish, to get some information about it and didn't really get much. (chuckles)
APPRAISER: Well, I see you're holding that guy there. Has he had too much mead?
GUEST: Yes.
APPRAISER: There you go. A little bit of damage here.
GUEST: A little bit.
APPRAISER: Well, you know, this is so fascinating. We talk about folk art, folk art in America. Well, this is Swedish folk art. This is just absolutely magnificent. The table is amazing. And it says "SMALAND" on the back and it's dated 1826. It's made of fruitwood. Beautifully carved. Wonderfully done. Including the little boar's head there. Have you ever had it appraised?
GUEST: No.
APPRAISER: At auction, I would say that in today's market, it's worth probably around $4,000 to $5,000.
