APPRAISER: I understand a couple of garage sale finds here?
GUEST: Thrift store.
APPRAISER: Thrift store, okay. What'd you pay for these?
GUEST: $15 each.
APPRAISER: Well, what they are is watercolor and gouache. And the artist is Théophile Jean Delaye. And there's little inscriptions on each of these. One is "The Markets of Fez," which is a town in Morocco. And then down below, we have "Tinzouline," but there's a lot of these scenes of the architecture.
GUEST: Yes.
APPRAISER: Where you see these sort of mud brick buildings. But the ones that tend to do better are the ones that are market scenes. As I said, these are the ones which are very typical, and those sell generally for about $2,000.
GUEST: Wow.
APPRAISER: Now, the market scenes, the last one, ones I've seen, sold for $5,000 and $9,000 at auction. So basically, for your $30, you probably came up with about $6,000 to $10,000 worth of art.
GUEST: Pretty good investment. (chuckles)
APPRAISER: I think so, yeah.
