GUEST: It was purchased by my grandfather in about 1909.
APPRAISER: Okay.
GUEST: It was to be a wedding present or an anniversary present to his parents. And then it's been passed down through the family.
APPRAISER: Well, where did he purchase it?
GUEST: He purchased it in Los Angeles.
APPRAISER: And how much did he pay for it?
GUEST: At the time he paid $50 for it.
APPRAISER: $50, okay. What you have here is a Tiffany leaded glass and patinated bronze table lamp. Now, this one is in the poinsettia pattern. As you see, very nice red-colored poinsettias throughout. This is an 18-inch shade, which is a very good shade size. Good coloration-- green and yellow, and the red flowers throughout. Now, if I could just sort of dim this light a little bit, then we'll take the shade off. It's stamped Tiffany Studios. You have the two tensioning rings, which is very much a Tiffany event. Then the base here, which is a lovely base, is stamped down here, Tiffany Studios, and numbered. Now, poinsettia is a good, collectible shade. And this is a twisting kind of trunk form base. Beautiful base, very desirable for collectors. I would say a safe auction estimate for this is $30,000 to $40,000.
GUEST: Great, fantastic.
APPRAISER: Which is a nice sort of gain on the $50 that your granddad paid for it.
GUEST: It certainly is, it certainly is. That's great.
