GUEST: These two pieces I bought from a couple who were big-time collectors of UND pottery, but they were starting to liquidate their collection, so I had an opportunity to make an offer to them.
APPRAISER: I think that both of these are one-of-a-kind pieces. They are unique. They're both student pieces as opposed to having been done by the regular faculty there.
GUEST: Right.
APPRAISER: But they are hand carved. That took a lot of work to do that, cutting back to the white.
GUEST: Right.
APPRAISER: And the other piece has a lid, which is also kind of an unusual thing. We can show the mark on this one. It's a typical UND mark. Because these are unique pieces, because they're both carved and not the typical run-of-the-mill molded pieces, they would both have auction values of somewhere between $2,000 and $3,000 each. They're both really lovely pieces.
GUEST: Thank you.
