Biography
Martin Gammon is the founder of Pergamon Art Group, which advises museums and private clients on collection management issues, and was formerly director of business development and museum services for Bonhams Auctioneers, where he was also a specialist in the field of Rare Books & Manuscripts.
Prior to joining Bonhams, Martin was on the faculty of the philosophy department at Stanford University and a Research Fellow at Yale University. He completed his Ph.D. at UC Berkeley, following undergraduate studies at Cornell University and Wadham College, Oxford. He is widely published in academic journals on the philosophy of art.
He is a member of the Grolier Club of New York and the Cosmos Club of Washington, DC. He is also the author of the forthcoming book, "Deaccessioning and its Discontents: A Critical History," (Cambridge, MA: MIT Press, 2018).
