Biography
Timothy Gordon is owner of Timothy Gordon Appraisals, a full-service appraisal and brokerage firm specializing in the appraisal of museum collections and sales of fine art and rare things.
Mr. Gordon began dealing in antiques and art at the age of 13 and was appraising major collections by his 20s. He has been a respected generalist appraiser for more than 25 years, and he has appraised several million objects.
His curriculum vitae includes a long list of major appraisal engagements of large and varied collections, including the historical contents of Yellowstone National Park, Mount Rainier National Park, The Levi Strauss Archives, The Katzen Arts Center at the American University in Washington, D.C.,the ghost town collections of Virginia City and Nevada City (part of the Montana Heritage Commission/Montana State Parks, and said to comprise one million artifacts) and the Princess Diana gowns at Kensington Palace in London.
He was the Antiquarian Specialist for the production of PBS Frontier House.
Mr. Gordon lectures throughout the country on his work as a museum appraisal expert. He has handled the sales of important American and European art and holds record prices for works of art by major artists, as well as selling private collections of Native Americana, decorative arts, military artifacts, historical objects, western history, rare documents and fine estates across the nation.
He served multiple terms as a member of the board of directors at the Northern Rockies Heritage Center, Rocky Mountain Museum of Military History, the Missoula Cultural Council, the Madison County Archives and is a past president of the Virginia City, Montana Chamber of Commerce.
