One aspect of the holiday season I absolutely love is seeing the enthusiasm and desire for people to make and give homemade gifts to one another. Freshly baked cookies, jarred jams, flavored cooking oils, and spice rubs are just a few homemade gifts that are relatively easy to make and add a special personal touch I appreciate so much.
For me, much of the joy of giving homemade gifts is how the gifts are packaged. I like both minimalist and crafty types of packaging using take-out containers, cellophane bags, tins, and craft bags. This year I found some holiday-themed tins with lids at the dollar store which the girls plan to bake cookies and deliver to their friends. A simple piece of straw or ribbon and a personal tag can go a long way in elevating the overall aesthetics of homemade gifts. And who can resist a beautifully decorated sugar cookie packaged in cellophane and tied with a beautiful bow? Here are some great homemade gifts with fun packaging to inspire you and your children this holiday season to give to teachers, friends, and family.
Jen of My Kitchen Addiction is my hero! Her post on Ideas for Dressing Up Your Holiday Goodies is a great guide on different ways to package your treats. You'll be able to find great ideas in her post.
These DIY gift sets (drinks and treats) from Pizzazzerie would make great gifts for teachers and easy enough for older elementary students to assemble on their own. You can even download free labels (as shown above) to add a polished look to your gift sets.
Perhaps you have a beautiful gift box you've been trying to figure out what to do with. How about packaging some Christmas cookies like these gorgeous Russian Tea Cakes by Zoe Bakes?
Here's an example of how you can package edible gifts in a stylish jar and tie a simple piece of ribbon around it to make it look professional and personal. These Honey Cinnamon Roasted Chickpeas by Two Peas and Their Pod would make an excellent gift for leaders, neighbors, and friends.
Another example of a simple packaging technique using a jar and a splash of colored ribbon. These Crunchy White Chocolate Orange Cranberry Bark by Savoring the Thyme is a perfect project for parents and kids to do together with a polished look. Honorable mention: Although not a blogger creation, these treats with creative packaging from Martha Stewart are also inspiring!
