Homemade Kindness Bar Recipe

When was the last time you purchased an impulse item while waiting in line at the grocery store? Me? Two days ago. My favorite nut and seed bars were on sale for $1.25 each, a great deal considering they usually sell for about $2 each. I bought four bars to keep in my glove compartment for those moments when I need a snack to hold me over until mealtime. However, I started to think about how expensive these small bars were knowing they were just nuts, seeds, and dried fruit held together somehow.
The next day I decided to see if I could make a home version just as well as the stores sell but for a fraction of the cost. After buying a few varieties of nuts, seeds, puffed cereal, dried fruit, and brown rice syrup, I mixed my custom bar ingredients in a bowl. After pressing down the nut mixture into a prepared squared pan, I was doubtful at first that my experiment would work due to the brown rice syrup. I am so glad I was wrong, because after baking to perfection in the oven, not only did my homemade Kindness Bars taste as good as they looked, I loved knowing I would be packing them in my kid's lunches. I felt victorious. It will be hard to ever purchase them again.
Although nut and seed bars are not new to many people, making them yourself is. Now people can make their own home version while customizing every aspect to their preference. I feel better about packing these bars in my kid's lunches because I know exactly what they are made from. If you love these types of bars and are looking for great snack foods to make, then look no further. Enjoy!
