As you read this, room parents everywhere across the country are scouring the internet for Valentine's Day party ideas from crafts to food. It might feel like a mission to pin every good idea so you don't forget later. It's all about creativity and coordination.
I've been the classroom parent many times and I know the feeling of wanting to find something in some shade of pink and red, or shaped like hearts in various sizes. Personally, I always preferred to bring in treats kids normally do not get the opportunity to indulge in. Even a kid can have too many cupcakes and thickly frosted cookies.
Today I have a fun recipe for White Chocolate Popcorn Treats. This recipe combines all the enjoyment of rice cereal squares with the fun of eating popcorn balls. Made with a combination of marshmallows and white chocolate, the flavor is subtle and not too sweet. A few drops of red food coloring will make the room parents happy too. The treats themselves are gluten-free (always check labels please) and a crowd favorite.
If you don't want to press the mixture into a pan, you can always use your hand to shape them into balls too, or even hearts. The hardest part of these treats is waiting an hour for them to set up. But it seems a small price to pay after you sneak a few pieces for yourself later. If you are looking for an easy, fun, and delicious treat to bring, this is it.
**These treats are gluten-free. However, please make sure to check the marshmallows and white chocolate for gluten first. Most major brands are made without gluten.
