Motherhood is a very special sisterhood of women deserving to be honored not only one day a year but all year long — at least I think so! Here are seven food blogging moms we love on Kitchen Explorers sharing their favorite Mother's Day memory and recipe inspiration to hopefully help you celebrate your own mom or for your own family to celebrate you.
Ashley Rodriguez of Not Without Salt - "There's nothing like your first mother's day. You feel a part of an elite group, you are blissfully unaware of the task ahead and revealing in this new little person whom you love more than you ever thought it possible to love another."
Aran Goyoaga of Cannelle et Vanille - "One of my favorite Mother's Day memories actually happened last year wen my children woke me up with cuddles and kisses in bed. It was simple. A hand-drawn card, kisses, and 'I love you, Mom.' What I needed."
Aviva Goldfarb of our very own Kitchen Explorers and her own site, The Scramble - "My favorite mother's day memory is when the kids and Andrew made me a beautiful breakfast complete with a tablecloth and flowers, and handmade cards. When I went out to my car later in the day I found that they had completely 'detailed' my car, cleaning it inside and out, and let me tell you, it really needed it. I felt so indulged!"
Shaina Olmanson of Food For My Family - "A few months after purchasing our house we spent the following Mother's Day digging in the dirt. It was a warm day, the sun shining, and as a family we worked together to create something in the ground we could now call ours that had been covered in snow just a few weeks prior. The space is now a garden, created by and maintained in part by the hands of my children, bearing fruit each summer and reminding me of the circle of life."
Jenny Flake of Picky Palate - "My favorite Mother's Day memories are the sweet homemade notes I get from my boys. They spend so much time coloring them and writing sweet words to me. I treasure each and every one that they make me. I feel so lucky to be a mom to my sweet boys. They melt my heart every day."
Merry-Jennifer Markham - "Some years ago, when my son was an infant and my daughter was perhaps 3, we established a tradition of an annual Mother's Day lunch out with the grandmothers. The feeling of having me, my children, their two grandmothers, and their great-grandmother -- four generations -- all together for a meal is something I cherish. The location of the meal changes, but the love we share and my feeling of gratefulness carries over each May."
Amanda Rettke of I Am Baker - "My favorite Mother's Day memory is the very first Mother's Day I spent *as* a mom. It dawned on me that this is what I was called to do. I snuggled my baby tight and thanked him for allowing me the privilege of being his mom, and promised him I would do everything in my power to give him the best life possible. I am still so thankful!"
