I'm a HUGE fan of party foods people love to eat that do not require a lot of skill or effort to pull together. With Halloween weeks away I'm happy to share one of my favorite finger food desserts. This one is dressed up in its own mummified costume. Whenever I bring chocolate-covered strawberries to a party they seem to disappear very quickly. In the spirit of dressing up in costume, today I have a recipe for Mummy Chocolate Covered Strawberries.
Dipped in a white chocolate coating, mini chocolate chip eyes are attached to the strawberry using the melted chocolate as glue. The remaining chocolate is transferred to a zip-lock bag with the corner tip cut off to be used as a pastry bag. Avoiding the eyes, chocolate is drizzled all over the strawberry in narrow zigzag lines. No need for the lines to look perfect. In fact, from coating the strawberries in chocolate to adding the strips, the more imperfect they look the better. Finally, while the chocolate is still melted, take a toothpick and flatten the rows of drizzled chocolate so it looks more like a mummy. These Mummy Chocolate Covered Strawberries not only make a great dessert at your Halloween party, but kids can help you prepare them every step of the way. Enjoy!
